A city with a national park for a back garden

About a third of Sheffield sits inside the Peak District, and locals make the most of it. A first date here doesn't have to mean a bar. Padley Gorge and the woods below Longshaw are an easy drive or a bus ride out, Stanage Edge gives you a view that does the talking, and Hathersage or Castleton have proper pubs for afterwards, with a fire to sit by if the chemistry needs a bit longer. For something nearer home, the Botanical Gardens and Endcliffe Park, with the path up through Porter Valley, are both a short hop from the city's south-west suburbs.

Young at heart, and plenty of them young in fact

Shares of Casual.uk members in South Yorkshire, across every section, from member records, October 2026.

South Yorkshire is one of the younger areas we cover. More than four in ten members are under 35, 25 to 34 is the most common age band at about a third, and 35 to 44 is close behind. About one in seven is 55 or over. A quarter are women, and here's the local twist: six in ten of them are on this main site rather than Naughty, and half give Doncaster as home, more than give Sheffield. Curvy women and their admirers might also like our BBW section.

Neighbourhoods

Pick a valley, pick a vibe

Sheffield is built on seven hills, and every one has its own character. Some favourites for a relaxed first drink:

Kelham Island

Old works and warehouses by the Don, now ale pubs, a food hall and a weekend crowd who like their beer local.

Division Street and West Street

Central, busy and full of choice, handy for the tram.

Abbeydale Road and Nether Edge

Independent bars and bistros where it's easy to talk, a little away from the centre.

Ecclesall Road

Long, lively and lined with places to eat and drink, from wine bars to old locals.

Ride the Supertram, save your legs

  1. The yellow, blue and purple lines link Hillsborough, Malin Bridge, Meadowhall, Halfway and Herdings with the city centre, and the tram-train runs on to Rotherham.
  2. Doncaster and Barnsley both show up in the member data, and both have direct trains into Sheffield station, so meeting in the middle is easy.
  3. Those hills are no joke after a few drinks. Choose somewhere near a stop and plan the way home before you go out.
  4. Keep a first meet public, and let someone know where you'll be.

Straight talk, Steel City style

People here value being straight with each other, so do the same on your profile. Say whether you want a one-off night, something regular or a flirt that might go further, and your daily matches will weigh it, along with distance, age and interests. If someone wastes your time, block them. If they cross a line, report them from their profile or the chat.

Steel City pride runs deep, and so does the friendliness. Locals call everyone love, and a cheery "now then" makes a perfectly good opening line, so don't overthink the first message. Save the clever stuff for the second drink.

Sheffield questions

Is Sheffield good for casual dating in your twenties and thirties?

Yes. More than four in ten South Yorkshire members are under 35, and about a third are 25 to 34.

Does it include Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster?

Yes. Doncaster and Barnsley both appear in the member data, Doncaster strongly, and your matches weigh distance, so profiles near you come up wherever you are in the county.

Now then. Who's coming out?
