A grown-up crowd in the middle of England

Derbyshire's members sit squarely in the middle years. Nearly two in three are 35 to 54, and 35 to 44 on its own is more than four in ten. If you'd rather meet someone with a few years behind them, for a fling, a regular arrangement or just a very good night, the age profile here is on your side.

Nearly a third of members here are women, and three in four of them are on this main site rather than Naughty, which makes Derbyshire unusual among the areas we cover. If older women are your thing, MILF Casual is made for them and the people who admire them.

Under-35s are fewer than three in ten, and only about one in twenty is over 55, so the middle years have it.

That shape suits a daytime meet as well as a late one: an unhurried lunch, a long walk, a drink that stretches into the evening if neither of you wants to rush back.

In town

A first drink in Derby without the fuss

Derby is small enough to walk end to end, which makes picking somewhere easy.

The Cathedral Quarter

Independent shops by day, pubs and wine bars by night, around Sadler Gate and Iron Gate.

Friar Gate

A wide Georgian street lined with bars, busy at weekends but easy-going midweek.

Darley Park and the Derwent

A riverside path out of the centre to a big, quiet park. Good for a walk-and-talk first meet.

The Silk Mill

The old mill on the Derwent, now the Museum of Making, sits at the foot of the Cathedral Quarter. An easy landmark to meet by before you pick a bar.

Stepping stones, mill towns and nobody watching

Derbyshire is made for a discreet daytime date. Head north up the Derwent Valley and Belper's old mills and riverside gardens, or the bars of Matlock and Matlock Bath, are half an hour away. Further in, the stepping stones at Dovedale, a stroll round Carsington Water, or a pub lunch in Ashbourne or Hartington make an afternoon nobody will forget. The Peak towns of Bakewell and Buxton round things off, Buxton with its crescent and its Pavilion Gardens.

In the member data, about half the county's members are in and around Derby itself, Mickleover and Chaddesden included, and Matlock and Long Eaton appear too. That makes Derbyshire casual dating a city affair with a lot of beautiful countryside on tap.

Right in the middle, with the trains to prove it

Derby sits on the Midland Main Line. Nottingham is about twenty minutes away, Sheffield and Birmingham under an hour, so if the perfect match lives in the next city, getting there is no drama. Locally, buses link the city with Belper, Ilkeston and Burton, and the Derwent Valley line runs to Matlock.

Derby questions, answered

Is Derby good for casual dating in your forties?

Very. Nearly two thirds of our Derbyshire members are 35 to 54, and 35 to 44 is the most common age band at more than four in ten.

Does it cover Chesterfield and the Peak District?

Yes. Matlock already appears in the county's member data, and your matches weigh distance, so profiles near you come up, Chesterfield, Buxton and the High Peak included.
